Look, guys, if you're gonna make an AMV, could you at least not use boring, mainstream songs that we've all heard a million times before and are just downright sick of?? This especially ticks me off when you use a relatively obscure and deep anime and then mix it with a horrible song.
There are SOME popular songs that are good for AMVs, and MANY that are NOT. This includes any nu-metal band/song in existence, Avenged Sevenfold (overplayed and boring), Evanescence (got old 6 years ago), System of a Down (which is a good band, but good God, if I hear Chop Suey ONE MORE TIME...), My Chemical Romance, and 90% of songs that have ever been used in a Dragonball Z AMV, especially Linkin Park. Basically, if your song can be found on MTV or VH1, you should consider trying something else.
By the way, all these Linkin Park AMVs have GOT to stop. No, Linkin Park is not cool. They never were cool. They had a music video for practically every song they've ever made, but that doesn't mean they're good. They like anime, but that doesn't mean that their songs are perfect for it. Also, it's pretty funny when you use their songs to reflect action in fight sequences, when those same songs are usually about how much their life sucks or how much they want attention. When choosing a song for an AMV, lyrics are VERY immportant! Don't just listen to the sustained powerchords and think "oh boy, this sounds like it would fit in a big brawl!" when what you're really doing is syncing up a fight scene to massive wangst.
While we're on the subject of AMVs, it also helps to REMOVE THE GODDAMN SUBTITLES when getting your clips. If you can't do that, because you're taking the clips off of the internet, then try buying the anime instead and get the clips without the subtitles. Anything would be better than seeing subtitles in a video where the only sound should come from the music - it's just distracting and pretty much kills the mood you're trying to establish. Although there are VERY few exceptions, yours is probably not one of them.
By the way, I've never made an AMV before, so maybe I really shouldn't be giving advice on how to make one. However, I think that these are some of those "unspoken rules" that determine overall quality. As
tl;dr version: Don't use songs you can find on MTV or VH1! Be more original!
